Three people arrested in connection with the death of a man in Dorchester have been released without charge.

Dorset Police was called at 9.05pm on Saturday 18 March 2023 to a report of an assault at an address in Milford Road. A man aged in his 60s sustained serious injuries to his head and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Very sadly, on the morning of Saturday 8 April 2023 the man died and an investigation into the incident was carried out by detectives from the Force’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).

Following detailed enquiries and a post-mortem examination, the death is no longer being treated as suspicious as it was found that the man sadly died of natural causes. There was no evidence to conclude a direct link between the incident on Saturday 18 March 2023 and the man’s subsequent death.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiring to pervert the course of justice, and a 44-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of conspiring to pervert the course of justice and assisting an offender have now been released without charge and will face no further police action in relation to the incident.

Our thoughts continue to remain with the loved ones of the man who sadly died.
