Swanage Election Following Death of Councillor

An election will be held on Thursday, 24 July 2025, to fill the vacant Swanage Ward seat on Dorset Council, following the passing of Councillor Bill Trite. 

This election presents an important opportunity for residents to help shape the future of their community by electing a new representative to Dorset Council. 

Nominations for prospective candidates must be submitted by  4pm on Friday 27 June 2025 with a list of candidates being published on Monday, 30 June 2025. 

Poll cards will be issued to registered electors on Friday, 4 July, providing details of polling stations. Voting will take place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, 24 July, with the count taking place immediately after polls close.

Residents who are not yet registered to vote or who have recently moved to the area must ensure their registration is completed by Tuesday, 8 July 2025, in order to vote in this election. 

There are also elections to fill two seats on Swanage Town Council for the North and South wards, which will be taking place on the same day.
