Swanage residents are set to head to the polls on Thursday, 24 July 2025, to elect a new representative for the Swanage Ward on Dorset Council, following the passing of long-serving Councillor Bill Trite.

In addition to the Dorset Council by-election, voters will also choose representatives for two seats on Swanage Town Council, covering the North and South wards. Both elections will take place on the same day, offering residents a vital opportunity to shape the future of their local community.

The candidates standing for the Swanage Ward seat on Dorset Council are:

  • Philip Michael Eades – Independents for Dorset
  • John LeJeune – Reform UK
  • Poppy Maltby – Liberal Democrats
  • Gemma Nancy Alison Simmons – Labour Party
  • Chris Tomes – Local Conservatives

Polling stations will be open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM on election day, with vote counting to begin immediately after the polls close.

For further details, including polling station locations and voter information, please visit the Dorset Council website.
