Talbot Village Trust backs local community centre

Mudeford Wood Community Centre has been transformed by a £50,000 grant from the local grant giving charity, Talbot Village Trust.

Trustees of the centre recognised that some of the facilities were no longer needed, such as an old shower block, and decided to apply to Talbot Village Trust for funding to convert these areas and expand the centre.

Liz Sabey, Trustee of Mudeford Wood Community Centre, said: “We are so grateful for the generous grant which we have received from Talbot Village Trust. The expansion has completely transformed the use of the centre, as we can now hire it out to clubs and societies, which secures its future. The expansion has also allowed us to meet the demand and increase the number of children who can join our playgroup.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust said: “Having heard of the centre’s plans for an expansion, we were keen to support the project as the centre enables a diverse range of activities to take place under the one roof. We have learnt that as well as the usual sporting activities, Age Concern Christchurch and other support groups use the centre as a meeting place.

“We are proud to have been given the opportunity to fund this project because the centre evidently is regularly used and relied on by many people in the Christchurch area.”

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually, and will be accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in autumn of this year. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.orgfor more information.
