The Biggest Lie Exposed: Look Beside You. Those You See Are Not Your Enemy

How Do You Get People Who Are Normally Decent and Kind Laughing at Murder on the Internet?

In a world that feels increasingly divided, it’s easy to point the finger. We’re encouraged to do it every day. The headlines scream about immigrants, people of different political parties, or those with opposing views. Social media algorithms feed us a constant stream of content designed to make us angry at our neighbours.

But what if we’re being played?

The greatest trick pulled on humanity today isn’t a single law or a secret conspiracy. It’s a silent, psychological campaign to turn us against each other. The real enemy of our freedom isn’t the person next door; it’s the force that teaches us to hate them.

The Divide and Conquer Playbook

Think of it like this: a school bully wants to steal the dinner money of two stronger kids. He (in this example) knows he can’t take them on if they’re united. So, he whispers a lie to one, convincing him the other is spreading nasty rumours. Soon, the two are arguing, fighting, and distrusting each other. While they’re distracted, the bully slips in and takes everything.

On a global scale, we are those two kids. The entities that truly threaten our collective freedom—those who hoard vast wealth, erode privacy, pollute the planet, and start wars for profit—rely on us being too busy squabbling amongst ourselves to notice what they’re doing.

They use a powerful three-step conditioning process:

  1. Create the Noise: A 24/7 news cycle and social media platforms designed for outrage constantly highlight our differences—race, religion, politics, wealth—while ignoring our vast common ground.
  2. Sell the Fear: We are fed a narrative that the ‘other’ group is a direct threat to our jobs, our safety, and our way of life. Fear is a powerful drug that shuts down critical thinking.
  3. Offer a False Enemy: They provide a simple, visible target for our frustration. It’s easier to blame a vulnerable community or a fellow citizen than it is to confront a complex, faceless system.

Who is the Real Enemy?

The real adversaries are not made of flesh and blood that you pass in the street. They are:

  • The Architects of Division: Those who own and control the corporate media outlets that profit from sensationalism and hate, knowingly pushing divisive propaganda.
  • The Masters of Data: Corporations that harvest our personal information not to serve us, but to manipulate us. They sell our attention to the highest bidder and use psychological profiling to show us content that makes us angrier and more polarised.
  • The Shadow Power: A confluence of extreme wealth and unaccountable power that operates above the law. Their goal is not a political ‘win’ for left or right; it is to maintain a status quo where they keep winning, and the rest of us keep fighting over the scraps.

How Do We Take Back Control?

The solution isn’t a grand revolution; it’s a quiet rebellion of everyday choices.

  1. Question Everything: Before you share that angry post or accept a sweeping statement about a group of people, pause. Ask: “Who benefits from me believing this?” Follow the money. Follow the power.
  2. Seek Common Ground: Talk to people. Not online, but in person. You’ll find the person you’ve been taught to distrust worries about paying their bills, loves their family, and wants a better future, just like you.
  3. Turn Down the Noise: Limit your consumption of toxic media. Your mental peace is an act of defiance against those who need you anxious and angry.
  4. Refocus Your Energy: Direct your frustration upwards, not sideways. Channel your desire for change into holding the powerful to account, supporting ethical journalism, and demanding transparency.

Our true strength has never been in our uniformity, but in our diversity and our ability to cooperate. The most powerful way to fight back is to simply refuse to play the game. See through the illusion of division. Rediscover the trust in your community.

The enemy isn’t beside you. The person beside you is your only ally. It’s time we started acting like it.
