The definitive live concert celebration of music’s greatest icon, The Bob Dylan Story marks this year’s 50th anniversary of his legendary Isle of Wight Festival appearance at Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, on Saturday 16 March.

The show was Dylan’s comeback appearance following his near-fatal motorcycle accident in 1966 and attracted intense speculation that one or all of The Beatles would join him on stage – rumours that were only added to when George Harrison joined Dylan and The Band at rehearsals at Forelands Farm, Bembridge.

In the event John and Ringo joined George to watch the show from the VIP enclosure along with Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Jane Fonda and Syd Barrett among others. Resplendent in his white suit, Dylan performed a set of hits like ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’, ‘Mr Tambourine Man’, ‘Rainy Day Women’ and ‘Like a Rolling Stone’, as well as recent pieces from the Nashville Skyline and John Wesley Harding albums including ‘Lay Lady Lay’, ‘I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight’ and ‘I Threw It All Away’. He also played ‘The Mighty Quinn’, a number one hit for Manfred Mann, but unreleased by Dylan until 1970 when he included the live version from the Isle of Wight on his Self Portrait album.

The Bob Dylan Story is an aural and visual feast written by and starring genuine Dylan fans, complete with evocative visual projections and the fascinating stories behind songs such as ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ and ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’, ‘All Along The Watchtower’ and ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’’.

Oh, and don’t forget to shout “Judas”!
