This Friday January 27th, The Dorset Destroyers Wheelchair Rugby Club will be hosting a FREE Beginners Wheelchair Self-Defence Taster Session at their HQ at Rossmore Leisure Centre, Herbert Avenue, Poole, BH12 4HR

You will need to bring your own wheelchair and if possible a partner (But not essential) Wear suitable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

The Dorset Destroyers Wheelchair Rugby Club have been hugely successful as a Wheelchair Rugby Club with wheelchairs being in high demand, but a few people who attended said it wasn’t for them, so Nick Coombs Chairman came up with some ideas to bring in alternative sports for people to try out. These have included the Monthly Indoor Shooting Club, Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia, Swing Ball and they are currently developing a version of wheelchair football.

John Colgan, Club Welfare Officer “There is so much demand for a variety of wheelchair/disability sports in Dorset and we felt it was only right to try wheelchair self-defence. It’s free and if successful, will be held regularly at Rossmore”.

Paul Sutherland continued “Wheelchair Rugby is at the heart of the club, but it’s also fun trying new things and the disabled people in Dorset seem to be enjoying the variety”
