  1. Can’t understand why Tory MPS get 60,000 yearly in expenses , only to ridicule free school meals, and demonising the poor at the same time, MPS expenses should be ended for good from now on ,it literally gives them 2 salaries .

    • If you incur expenses on behalf of your employer then, no doubt, you would feel entitled to reclaim them, which is what MPs of all parties are simply doing; such claims are regulated by IPSA. Trying to equate the way Conservative MPs voted with expenses claims is nothing more than a blatant red herring.

  2. I see that Mike Sivier – Vox Political – has incorporated a link to this article in his blog. I have twice pointed out to him that, according to Fullfact, MPs can claim twenty-five pounds in food expense per night if staying outside London or their constituency as part of their parliamentary activities. This does not cover alcohol. It seems therefore that comparing MPs expense claims with free (at thee point of delivery) scool meals has no relevance in this issue. Unfortunately, not for the first time, Sivier taken exception to my seeking to clarify his comments and not printed them.
