The Game is up for Stephen Tommy Robinson Yaxley-Lennon

An explosive look at the racist ideology and media-savvy tactics of the modern far right, featuring secret investigations by the anti-fascist group Hope not Hate.

Channel 4’s Dispatches: Tommy Robinson: Where’s the Money Gone? follows a year-long investigation by journalist Matt Shea into the finances and fundraising activities of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, better known as Tommy Robinson. The documentary examines the substantial sums raised from supporters for various causes and asks what happened to money that was supposedly destined for specific recipients or campaigns. It also investigates a network of companies associated with Robinson, questions his claims about how he is paid and highlights concerns about the transparency of his financial arrangements.

One of the most serious strands concerns Robinson’s 2018 libel case against him, after which he told the court he had very limited financial resources and no significant assets. The programme presents evidence that appears to call aspects of that account into question. Former Director of Public Prosecutions Sir Max Hill KC told the programme that some of the evidence was sufficiently serious to justify consideration of a criminal investigation into potential perjury and fraud. Robinson has categorically denied both allegations. The documentary also raises questions about fundraising connected with victims of abuse and whether some people’s stories were exploited for campaigning purposes.
