Spend enough time scrolling through far-right social media accounts and you will inevitably encounter the same claim: white people are becoming victims in their own country. According to this narrative, Britain is supposedly gripped by “systemic anti-white racism” and white Britons are being pushed aside in favour of minorities.
The problem is that this argument collapses the moment it meets reality.
Let’s look at some basic facts.
Around 83% of Britain’s population is white. In Parliament, approximately 87% of MPs are white. Around 92% of police officers are white. The House of Lords is estimated to be around 94% white. Among Britain’s wealthiest families, roughly 85% are white.
These figures are not evidence of discrimination against white people. If anything, they demonstrate that white Britons continue to dominate the institutions that hold political, economic and social power.
This is not an argument that Britain is a racist country, nor is it a claim that white people never experience prejudice. Individuals of any ethnicity can be treated unfairly. Racism can affect anyone on a personal level.
But that is very different from systemic racism.
When people speak about systemic racism, they are referring to patterns of power, representation and opportunity across society. If a group overwhelmingly occupies positions of influence in government, policing, business and national institutions, it becomes extremely difficult to argue that the same group is being systematically excluded or oppressed.
Yet the myth persists.
Why?
Because for some political movements, particularly on the far right, grievance has become a business model. Outrage generates clicks. Victimhood generates attention. Telling people that they are under attack creates fear, and fear is a powerful political motivator.
The narrative is constantly fuelled by isolated incidents taken out of context, sensational headlines and social media echo chambers. A diversity initiative here, a badly worded policy there, and suddenly every event is presented as proof of a vast conspiracy against the majority population.
What is rarely discussed is the broader picture.
White Britons remain the overwhelming majority of the population. They continue to be heavily represented across the country’s institutions. They hold the vast majority of political offices, senior positions and economic power.
That does not mean Britain has solved every issue relating to race. It does not mean every ethnic minority faces barriers nor that every white person enjoys privilege. Society is always more complicated than simple slogans.
But complexity is exactly what the grievance industry rejects.
The claim that Britain is suffering from systemic anti-white racism is not supported by evidence. It is a political narrative designed to create resentment where none is justified. It encourages people to see themselves as victims despite occupying the majority of positions of power in society.
A healthy democracy should be guided by facts rather than feelings. And the facts are clear: Britain is not witnessing the systematic oppression of white people. What we are witnessing is the growth of a movement that profits from convincing people otherwise.
