Following the resounding success of her solo show ‘Oh Mary’, Cornish performer Bec Applebee is back touring Dorset with Artsreach with a brand new theatrical venture ‘The Ugly Sisters’. This fun filled family show is based around the characters from the Cinderella story and uses a combination of original live music, dance and comedy to take a satirical look at media driven photo-shopped ideals of beauty and questions – who really is the Ugly Sister?

Ella is a farmer’s daughter. She is used to mucking out and getting on with the demanding practical tasks that help keep her Dad’s farm running. Ella understands nature, she’s practical and loves the farm. She is very happy with herself and has certainly never worried about whether her welly boots are in fashion or not. So it is a complete shock to the system when her Dad introduces her to her new stepsisters. Grace and Charity are streetwise and fashion conscious; they know every beauty trick from every magazine and everything there is to know about ‘what’s in’ and ‘what’s out’; they know what’s what and Ella is definitely not it….

How far will some girls go to get the attention of a prince and how much plastic and elastic can one girl use to get the perfect look? Is it possible to be happy just as you are? And can a country girl in wellies win the day?
