AKA Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, Lee Anderson, Richard Tice… these people are your disciples.

“They were Bebe, Elsie and Alice. Surely, after the horrible way they died, their lives were worth more than 3 pairs of stolen crocs, a basket of stolen soap bombs, & some stolen sausage rolls? They think it’s like Christmas. Imagine this Christmas for the little girls’ families?”

“Those that shout “Stop ruining our country” should take a long, hard look at themselves.”

“Looting at the riots yesterday. The look of greed, entitlement and undistilled stupidity on the face of the woman with the basket. Britain in 2024.”

“Because when you’re “concerned citizens with legitimate grievances”, stealing three pairs of Crocs and a whole damned basket of body lotions, exfoliants, and bath bombs is absolutely the way of showing just how upset you are in a reasonable and grown-up way.”

Britain smells like rotten eggs!

The Criminal Justice System is Very Busy

A 15-year-old boy arrived at court with his mum to admit to throwing a paving slab at a member of the public during riots in Liverpool on Saturday night.

The teenager is among dozens of people who have either appeared in court today or will do so later, accused of offences related to UK-wide riots over the past week. The suspects have been appearing in courts in towns and cities across the country – including Middlesbrough, Sheffield, Liverpool, Bristol, and Leeds. The hearings are taking place after the first group of people involved in the UK-wide riots appeared in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, police in West Yorkshire and Cheshire have arrested people in relation to alleged social media posts linked to the riots seen across the country over the past week.

Teen appears in court after Merseyside disorder

The 15-year-old involved in the disorder in Liverpool on Saturday night appeared in court this morning after being identified from CCTV footage and a TikTok video sent to police by a member of the public. Joshua Sanderson-Kirk, prosecuting at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, said: “He picks up a paving slab which has been recently dislocated and throws it at a member of the public.” The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been on police bail at the time banning him from entering the city centre. He will be sentenced on 17 September.

Riots broke out across the UK over the past week in the wake of a stabbing attack that left three girls dead in Southport. The first riot took place in the Merseyside town last Tuesday after false information shared online suggested the suspect, who it has since emerged was born in Wales, was an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by boat.

Man and woman blow kisses to each other in court

A 26-year-old man appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court today to admit his role in the Southport riot, which took place near a mosque after other online rumours suggested the stabbing suspect was a Muslim. Dylan Carey, 26, from Hindley in Greater Manchester, was arrested at Southport train station on the same day as the riot after video posted on social media showed him throwing a water bottle and kicking a police van. Carey and a woman in the public gallery blew kisses to each other in court as he pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

Man denies pushing burning bin at officers

Meanwhile, 28 suspects were scheduled to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court charged with violent disorder and other offences in relation to a riot which broke out in Middlesbrough on Sunday. James Bullock, 20, has pleaded not guilty to violent disorder after he was accused of being involved in an incident where a flaming wheelie bin was pushed at police during the Middlesbrough disorder. John Garside, prosecuting, told the court Bullock had “visited the location wearing gloves and a balaclava”. A 33-year-old man has denied violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon at the same court after he was accused of damaging property with a four-foot wooden pole during the Middlesbrough unrest. Ashley Ferguson was remanded in custody until 27 August when he will appear at a crown court.

Teens to face court after Rotherham hotel riot

It came as six people were scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court following violent scenes outside a hotel which housed migrants in Rotherham on Sunday. Lee Crisp, 42, Christopher Rodgers, 38, and Liam Grey, 20, have been charged with violent disorder alongside two teenagers who cannot be named for legal reasons. Joshua Simpson, 26, has been charged with violent disorder and assault of an emergency worker, South Yorkshire Police added.

Meanwhile, eight people have been charged in connection with disorder that broke out in Nottingham city centre at the weekend. The seven men and one woman are aged between 18 and 46 and are accused of various crimes, including weapon offences and assaulting an emergency worker. Another man, Ashley Harris, 36, was scheduled to appear in court in Bristol after being charged in connection with violent disorder in the city centre on Saturday, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Two teenagers among four charged in Bolton

A riot also took place in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on Sunday with two men and two teenagers being charged over the unrest today. Dominic Stanbridge, 30, from Buckshaw, has been charged with violent disorder and was scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court today. James Nelson, 18, from Horwich, has been charged with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and was scheduled to appear at the same court today. A 16-year-old boy has been charged with violent disorder and another 16-year-old boy has been charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Arrests after alleged online offences

Earlier today, West Yorkshire Police said it charged a 28-year-old man with using “threatening words or behaviour intending to stir up racial hatred”. The Crown Prosecution Service said the charge related to alleged Facebook posts made between 1 and 5 August. Jordan Parlour was scheduled to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning. In a separate case, officers from Cheshire Police arrested a 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment with intent to cause fear and violence. On Sunday 4 August, officers had received several reports from concerned members of the public in relation to a Snapchat post encouraging members of the public to attend action outside a hotel in Cheshire. The pair have since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Man admits carrying metal pole as a weapon

Elsewhere in the UK, three men from Blackpool appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Monday to admit their roles in the violence that broke out in the Lancashire town on Saturday. Roger Haywood, 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and has been granted bail ahead of his sentencing hearing at the same court on 4 September. Chalmers-Millington, 18, pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated public order offence and was told he must not enter Blackpool promenade within 500 metres of the Metropole Hotel ahead of his sentencing hearing at the same court on 3 September. Ben Smith, 32, was remanded in custody after admitting possession of an offensive weapon – namely a metal pole – and is due to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on 16 September.
