Bad news: following our fantastic success back in June in defeating the application to build an incinerator in Canford Magna, Dorset, we are devastated but unsurprised to learn that MVV, the failed applicant, has now appealed against this decision.
We have until 12th February to make our objections known again.
Our local politicians can represent us during this appeal as Interested Parties.
Please take action: Write to your local Councillor(s) and call for their support to represent their constituents as an Interested Party.
Here’s a reminder of why this proposal will be devastating for our community and natural environment. The incinerator would be:
– Harmful in its emissions, to human health and to the eco-system of the neighbouring Canford Heath Site of Special Scientific Interest;
– A contributor, in its emissions of CO2, to climate change;
– A cause of further traffic congestion and air pollution on the local road network;
– A visual harm, with its 110 metre chimney, in an area with many heritage assets (Canford Magna);
– A step backwards in our journey towards a circular economy and zero waste.
Depending on the time of day, air temperature and wind conditions, it is predicted that harmful emissions from this incinerator will travel 10km from source.
Please email your local councillor(s) now.
