Co-founder Rob da Bank opened the festival with atmospheric DJ set.

Thousands of festival-going families heading into the grounds of Dorset’s Lulworth Castle, ready for a weekend to remember as Camp Bestival Dorset gets underway for its 16th year. With headliners McFly, Paloma Faith and PETE TONG IBIZA CLASSICS – Jules Buckley & The Essential Orchestra – and over 350 acts and performers on the bill – Camp Bestival Dorset is set to be a family adventure like no other.

The festival officially kicked off yesterday evening (Thursday 25 July) with festival co-founder and ‘Chief Navigator’ Rob da Bank performing a DJ Set in the famous Caravanserai tent.

Families gathered in the atmospheric Caravanserai and were treated to incredible circus performances, and live music by Cam Cole & Miss Lily Fortune.

It’s not Camp Bestival without the iconic Love-Bot and Earth-Bot, lighting up the dark Dorset night sky.

One half of the mighty Orbital, Phil Hartnoll, made a guest appearance behind the scenes in the Camp Bestival production office. Onsite way in advance of the group’s much-hyped Friday night set, Hartnoll is also making a very special guest appearance at Big Fish Little Fish family rave (4.30pm, Friday).

An exclusive new addition for this year are the Camp Bestival Navigators, ready to guide all the younger explorers who attend the festival. The Navigators, based at the brand-new Navigation Town, will be directing children to all the wonderful things the festival has to offer, including circus skills, woodland tribe activities and fashion design.

The Navigators will give every child guest who comes to the festival their very own Explorer’s Passport, another new addition for this year. Designed by festival co-founder Josie da Bank, the magical Explorer’s Passport is packed with beautiful illustrations, maps and information, with lots of space for kids to add their memories, stamps and stickers as they explore the festival. Every child will be given a free Explorer’s Passport by the Camp Bestival Navigators and the aim is to encourage them to take part in as many of the amazing free activities as possible.  Guests can also take their passports to Josie’s Post Office – also situated in Navigation Town – to take part in extra special doodling workshops, stamping, stickering and more.

Camp Bestival Dorset takes place 25 – 28 July 2024 at Lulworth Castle and Camp Bestival Shropshire takes place 15 – 18 August 2024 at Weston Park.
