Three beaches in Christchurch have again gained Seaside Awards for achieving the highest standards of beach management.

Avon Beach, Friars Cliff Beach and Highcliffe Beach are the winners of the Awards, which are judged and presented by the charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The Award recognises and rewards beaches in England that achieve the highest standards of beach management and, in the case of bathing beaches, meet guideline water quality.

Cllr Margaret Phipps, Porfolio Holder for the Environment at Christchurch Council, said: “We’re delighted that our beaches have maintained the required standard for this award again. We know that our residents, holiday-makers and day trippers want to visit clean, safe beaches and the sight of the Seaside Award flying gives them the reassurance that they will.”
