Eight affordable rented homes planned for Tolpuddle.

The Central Farm site was identified in a recent Strategic Housing Land Assessment as a suitable site for a small development of affordable homes.

Hastoe Housing Association along with C G Fry’s have been working towards a development in the area for a number of years.

West Dorset District Council has agreed to provide £120,000 of funding to allow the scheme to move forward.

Cllr Tim Yarker, West Dorset District Council’s Portfolio holder for Housing, said: “Our rural communities need good quality affordable housing for local families, if they are  to remain vibrant. This is why we are working hard to promote and support schemes such as this one at Tolpuddle.”

Funding will come from Section 106 agreement contributions held from previous developments at Tolpuddle and Dorchester.

The Homes and Community Agency has provisionally allocated funding of £203,000 for affordable homes built on the site.

A planning application has been submitted for eight affordable homes and has been supported by Puddletown Parish Council. Priority for these homes will be given to people with a local connection to the area.

A public consultation was held in October 2014 to show the scheme to the local community and gain feedback about the development.
