Dorset County Hospital’s Damers Restaurant has received top marks for food safety and hygiene – for the third year in a row.

Environmental health inspectors awarded the restaurant and kitchen five stars (excellent) following a recent inspection.

The following criteria are used to determine the number of hygiene stars given to premises:

·  food hygiene and safety of food

·  cleanliness and structural conditions

·  confidence in management, for example past record in terms of complying with the law

Hospital Catering Services Manager Derrick Stevens said: “The award of the five star food hygiene rating for the third consecutive year is a great achievement for the catering department and it demonstrates the importance that we give to food safety and the care of our patients and customers within Damers Restaurant.

“We could not achieve this high standard if it were not for the hard work and commitment from each and every member of the catering team.”
