Tragedy as 18-Year-Old Dies in Collision

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle collision near Wareham on Wednesday evening.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.42pm on 18 February 2026 of a crash involving a black Volvo V70 on Morden Road. Emergency services attended the scene, where a male passenger aged 18 was very sadly pronounced dead.

His family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, and a male teenage passenger both sustained serious injuries in the collision. They were taken to hospital for treatment, where they remain under medical care.

Road closures were put in place while emergency services responded to the incident and carried out a detailed examination of the scene. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes as officers worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police Sergeant Josh Alner, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who very sadly died in this collision.

“We are carrying out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please get in touch.

“I would like to thank the public for their patience while the road closure was in place, which enabled us to safely examine the scene.”

Investigators are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along Morden Road at the time of the incident and may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision. Officers are particularly interested in speaking to motorists who may have captured relevant footage on dashcams.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or via email at [email protected], or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260024369.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers, either via its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic collision.
