Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in West Moors.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.42am on Friday 13 December 2024 of a collision involving a black Nissan X-Trail and a pedestrian in Station Road, close to the junction with Glenwood Road.

Emergency services attended and, very sadly, the pedestrian – a man aged in his 80s – died after sustaining serious injuries. His family has been informed.

Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded and to allow for a detailed examination of the scene to take place.

Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who very sadly died as a result of this collision.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also ask any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the area to please review their footage for anything of relevance.

“Finally, I appreciate this collision has resulted in road closures and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding.

“Road closures are necessary to allow first responders to deal with the incident and for a detailed examination of the scene to be conducted.”
