Tragedy as man Dies in Collision in Christchurch

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in Christchurch.

A single vehicle collision occurred at around 4.55pm on Sunday, 1 February 2026, in The Grove involving a green Vespa moped.

The rider of the moped – a man aged in his 80s – was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Road closures are in place to allow for an examination of the scene to be carried out.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who very sadly died.

“I am carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I am also keen to speak with any motorists who were in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online, via email at [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260015098. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
