Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in Poole.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.46am on Monday 4 December 2023 from the ambulance service, which was at the scene of a road traffic collision in Ringwood Road, near to the junction with Dorchester Road. The incident involved a silver Vauxhall Astra that had collided with a parked vehicle and is believed to have occurred some time after 7am.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the driver of the Astra – a local man aged in his 60s – was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and were lifted at around 10.10am.

Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died in this collision, and we are investigating the incident to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, and I would urge anyone who was driving in the Ringwood Road area between around 7am and 8.45am on Monday 4 December 2023 to please review any available dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
