A woman who sustained serious injuries in a road traffic collision in Weymouth has very sadly died.

The incident, which occurred in Dorchester Road, was reported to police at 5.43pm on Wednesday 13 December 2023. It involved a blue Mitsubishi car – driven by a man aged in his 60s from Hertfordshire – and a female pedestrian.

The pedestrian – a local woman aged in her 70s – was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. Very sadly, she died in hospital on the evening of Friday 22 December 2023.

Sergeant Leanne Howes, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family of the woman who sadly died at what must be an extremely difficult time of them, particularly at this time of year.

“We owe it to them to carry out a detailed investigation and establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would like to renew our appeal for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I am also still keen to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
