Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward following a reported serious assault in Weymouth.

At 5.14pm on Sunday 27 July 2025 Dorset Police received a report of a serious assault on Westham Bridge, in which the victim – a local man aged in his 30s – was repeatedly punched in the head and sustained a serious injury to his ear.

Officers attended and following enquiries, two men aged 21 and 23 – both from Weymouth – were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. Both remain in police custody at this time.

The victim attended hospital for treatment to his injury.

Police Constable Chloe Seaward, of Dorset Police, said: “We are investigating this reported assault and appealing for any witnesses who saw what happened to get in touch with us.

“I would also ask any motorists who were driving across Westham Bridge at the time of the incident to please review their dashcam and come forward if they have captured anything of relevance.”
