Evolve Politics: “David Evans, who previously suggested that ‘representative democracy should as far as possible be abolished in the party’, and has been widely described as a ‘factional, right-wing Blairite’, has been appointed Labour Party General Secretary. Interesting times ahead.”
In keeping with praising where due, and calling out where due… Add this to the panel selected for the ‘independent’ investigation into the peers of David Evans who LITERALLY worked to lose the election in 2017, in their own words, according to the transcripts and allegations, and the conclusion can only be:
UNITY, MY ARSE!
I would like to remind the leadership team that pi**ing in the faces of the members (that is genuinely how it feels) can only end very badly indeed. No matter how much media and commentariat you have on side…if you destroy the foundations of the party, the whole house collapses…
TBC very clear here: there is a difference between having a different opinion, and then siding with the collective group of people who literally did everything in their power to purge members and (allegedly) lose elections. If you think none of this matters based on polls, a lack of knives in the back like Corbyn suffered, and/or far more media onside, then wait until election time…
But, I am staying, because there is no way on earth we will allow those accused to get away with what they allegedly did. Not without one almighty fight. I say this as members from all parts of the party are beyond furious about that Labour Leaks report. Right now, the leadership is demonstrably underestimating the level of this anger. Or they just don’t care. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt & say it is the former, not the latter….
