Update of the situation at Iford Bridge following the evacuation last evening

  • All residents who needed it were accommodated overnight in a local hotel
  • Six households from the Iford site needed this support
  • It is very unlikely that residents will be able to return to Iford Bridge site today as water levels are continuing to rise; we of course want to avoid a situation where residents return prematurely and are subsequently required to evacuate again as this is distressing for all involved.
  • On-site security has been arranged for the whole weekend to ensure people do not risk their personal safety by accessing the site and to protect properties.
  • We have plans in place to cover the weekend and a continuous multi-agency assessment of the situation is ongoing.
  • We will continue to do everything we can to keep the site’s residents comfortable and informed about the situation, and to reassure them of our continued support.
