We couldn’t make it up! But we know people who are.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that a famine cannot be relieved or ended by taking food and food aid from those most affected by the famine and yet that is precisely the approach and the policies of the government with regard to the recession and the imposition of austerity in Britain today.

As so many often say, ‘You couldn’t make it up!’ Well, that’s the point and the real problem we face today. The government is making it all up and it isn’t the imposition of austerity that is the problem (as huge as that is) it is the constant stream of lies, deception, the manipulation of data and the vast wealth that backs the governments tactics that makes the job of opposing, exposing and holding them accountable so difficult.

Britain is being enslaved to an ideology in which all protections and the right of opposition have been stripped away in a relentless propaganda war. This is being done in such a way that opposition is simply ignored and the lie is maintained by ignoring all sense, reason, logic and factual evidence. The government does not oppose dissent they simply ignore it and dismiss it as ill informed extremist leftist nonsense.

The tactics being used by the government are to set neighbour against less well off neighbour by pretending that the less well off are better off in some way, so people on welfare benefits are pictured as living an indulgent life of leisure whilst poor workers have to slave away all day. Lord Freud has suggested that people use food banks opportunistically to grab free food. The privatisation of the state worships profit and values nothing else. People are reduced to mere objects to be used and abused to feed the insatiable hunger of the markets for ever increasing profits. David Cameron has said that Britain must be able to compete with countries like China and India and is systematically removing all workers protections and rights in Britain and proposes a reduction or freeze of the minimum wage whilst claiming to help those who want to get on. It’s the purest nonsense but it’s powerful nonsense spoon fed to the nation by the national media. If Primark can source the manufacture of its stock in Britain then Cameron can boast a huge boost for business even whilst, in real terms, reducing workers to poverty. Boosting business profits does nothing for the real economy or the lives of those who are suffering the imposition of austerity.

The media debates the issues but rarely, if ever, questions whether the issues are even relevant or have any reason to exist at all. The welfare reforms have been ruthlessly pursued on the false premise of stopping benefit fraud. Benefit fraud accounts for less than one percent of the welfare bill, the sheer cost alone of the reforms makes for false economy. The Work Capability Assessments performed by Atos are causing untold suffering amongst disabled people and suggesting that the tests designed by Atos need adjusting or rethinking is to miss the point. Atos, overseen by the DWP and Iain Duncan Smith, are running a system designed to fail the needs of disabled people to achieve preconceived and ideologically driven financial targets that bear no relation to the realities of disability living. Indeed, with the help of Unum, the shady insurance company behind the entire rethink of illness and disability, the government has redefined illness and disability as malingering, the cure for which is to get sick and disabled people active in work.

The government isn’t acting by mistake or accident, their actions are entirely in line with their intentions. They are also fully aware that they must create a smokescreen to confound the foolish and they are very successful at doing that.

Those who suffer the most in a catastrophe are the weakest and poorest members of society; this isn’t an ideological concept, it is a self evident reality. The working and non working, able and disabled, poor are both the victims and targets of austerity; those with least to give are expected to pay the most to balance the economy, whilst those with the greatest wealth are being rewarded and protected. Austerity, then, is the engine that drives huge profits whilst impoverishing ordinary people.

In the universe as we know it there is no such thing a force for evil, all evil is a perversion of something that is naturally and wholesomely good. A knife is made of good and wholesome materials and can be used to perform a wide range of wholesome tasks, that it can be used to main, torture or kill, is the use of a wholesome object for perverted reasons through perverted thought. The government has gone beyond politics and human governance into a world of perversion that can only be described as evil. It is an evil that is manifested through the perversion of their essential humanity which is affecting the lives of countless millions of people. This ideological perversion is being acted out across the globe. It is shocking in its magnitude and in its vicious intent to undermine and destroy the lives of ordinary people across the world in order to achieve the domination of global resources for the benefit of the few. This is the neoliberal agenda – banks and corporations, with the willing cooperation of national governments, are determined to create a New World Order that will subjugate the world. The task before us is immense, bearing in mind that they have not yet achieved their goal, it is still being rolled out and pursued daily and it falls to good hearted, humane people to oppose this monstrous evil.
