Weymouth And Ferndown Boys Charged Following Vicious Assault In Weymouth

Dorset Police received a report at around 1am on Saturday 15 February 2025, of a disturbance in St Edmund Street involving a group of people.

An 18-year-old man was reportedly assaulted and sustained a fractured skull. Another 18-year-old man also sustained facial injuries but did not require immediate medical treatment.

Following enquiries, a 14-year-old boy from Weymouth and a 17-year-old boy from Ferndown have been charged with wounding with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The 17-year-old boy appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 21 February 2025, and the 14-year-old boy is due to appear at the same court on Tuesday, 11 March 2025.

A 21-year-old man from Weymouth and a 17-year-old boy from Christchurch arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent remain on police bail while enquiries continue.

An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who were previously arrested have been released without charge and will face no further police action.

Detective Constable Mia-Isabella Bowditch, of Dorset County CID, said: “The investigation is ongoing into this incident, and I would continue to urge anyone with information or footage that might assist our enquiries to please report it to us.”
