Residents are invited to the annual United Nations Day service.

On Saturday 24 October, Mayor of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, Cllr Christine James, will lead a short service in Weymouth to recognise international United Nations Day. The service is open to the public and will take place in Radipole Park Gardens (The Princess of Wales Gardens) at 10.30am.

The service will include the raising of the UN Flag followed by speeches from the Mayor and the President of the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, Mr Les Board, as well as a reading and prayers led by Father Richard (the Mayor’s Chaplain).

Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Cllr Christine James, said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to represent the borough and host this important  civic event, which recognises United Nations Day and acknowledges the outstanding humanitarian work carried out by the UN throughout the world.”

The Mayor will be joined by representatives of local business groups, friends of the parks and gardens, borough councillors and members of the public.

For those attending the United Nations Service, parking will be available at the Radipole tennis court at the end of the borough gardens.
