Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a report of a sexual assault in Weymouth.

It is reported that at around 10pm on Monday 7 August 2023 the victim – a 17-year-old girl – was inappropriately touched by a man in the Swannery car park in Radipole Park Drive.

The victim was reportedly put into a vehicle and driven to the other end of the car park, before getting out and into another vehicle. She did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Following enquiries, a 23-year-old Weymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and kidnap. A 26-year-old man from Portland has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

The arrested men and the victim are known to each other.

Investigations Officer Florence Winstanley, of Dorset County CID, said: “I understand the town centre was busy around the time of the incident and I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened.

“There were two people sitting nearby who spoke to the victim after the incident and I am appealing for them to come forward as they may have information to help our enquiries.”
