Weymouth BID Limited Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday 14th January 2016 at 6pm Ocean Room Weymouth Pavilion.

The meeting has been moved to January 2016 as the Board agreed this is a better time to hold the meeting than November when businesses are focusing on Christmas. The Board also recognised the importance of the work within the BID office to deliver the BIG Christmas programme.

Steve Newstead Chair of the Board said “This is an important time over Christmas and with the ambitious plans to create a bigger event throughout December it was felt the focus of the BID team should be to deliver the event and focus on the AGM in January when traditionally it is a quieter period and will also provide the opportunity to reflect on the BIG Christmas promotion.”

In addition the BID will be running a number of open and 1-2-1 meetings, prior to the January AGM, in addition to a survey, that will allow businesses their say on the BID, how it is performing and feedback on its activities.

Nigel Reed BID Manager said “The purpose of an AGM is to present the activities of the BID over the past year and to show the plans for 2016. The 1-2-1 and open meetings, with the survey, will help towards this.”

He added, “The annual accounts for year two will be available in November 2015 and on the website for BID members to view and there are still places on the Board for those wishing to join the board.”

Christmas 2015 will be like no other in Weymouth as the BID has organised a REAL ICE RINK for the centre of town. The rink will open on Friday 4th December when the town will be celebrating the start of Weymouth’s BIG Christmas, switching on of the Christmas lights, the arrival of Santa with his reindeers and a whole host of entertainment.  The Christmas festivities will take place between 4th and 31st December 2015.  Ice rink bookings will be available on line early November.

The BID is working with a number of community groups to host a festive entertainments programme.

Footfall is monitored closely during these events and at all other times in the town centre where three cameras record traffic 24/7.  This scheme was implemented in December 2014 which means the BID will be able to monitor changes in footfall traffic on a year on year basis providing useful data for businesses and the BID to act upon.

Each week the Weymouth BID provides an online newsletter which is sent to every business registered on its database, in addition the newsletter is published on the www.weymouthbid.co.uk website.  Quarterly the BID produces a printed newsletter which is posted to every BID member; this can also be downloaded via the www.weymouthbid.co.uk website.  BID Members who are not receiving these useful BID communications or the latest “We are Weymouth” news should get in touch with the Weymouth BID office to provide email details.
