Members of Weymouth BID Steering Group along with a representative from Dorchester BID Board met with Kingston First.

Kingston First as the name implies was the first UK BID and is currently in its second term with plans for a third term re-ballot in 2015

The meeting was organised by Weymouth & Portland Economic Development Manager Ian Doyle who had worked on the Kingston First BID.

The Group discussed the successes and pitfalls in running a BID and how the BID had evolved from its start up to its current position.

Roger Dalton from Weymouth Steering Group said “It was really interesting and highlighted some excellent projects that could easily be effective in Weymouth. Having presentations from those that had the experience and had learnt, often the hard way, what worked and what didn’t will help in forming the Weymouth BID business plan.”

The Group received presentations on event management, better customer experience and cleaner streets.

Businesses are encouraged to register their interest in the Weymouth BID with Nigel Reed on 07557 142906 or email at [email protected] .  More information is available at www.weymouthbid.co.uk.   Follow us on Twitter @Weymouth BID or on Facebook www.facebook.com/WeymouthBID
