Weymouth College Acoustic Summer Tour 2015

Music students from Weymouth College are presenting a county-wide acoustic music tour culminating in a final performance at The Bay Theatre, Weymouth. Their shows will feature an eclectic mix of cutting edge rock, groovy drum ‘n’ bass and the sweet sounds of Bangladeshi pop – performed acoustically! The students who are all studying a range of music courses at the College, will also be debuting their own compositions. A variety of venues have been chosen across the county and they’re encouraging people to book early to avoid disappointment. The tour will enable students to perform in a variety of venues and to a wide-range of audiences and to put into practice what they’ve learnt on their course. It follows on from the hugely successful Music Industry Week that was held at the college 23-27th March and welcomed speakers including Mark Chadwick from the Levellers and Alex from GotSome.

Rodney Teague, Lecturer in Music and Creative Arts said:

“The College’s music department has a long and esteemed history. Over the years

it’s nurtured some incredibly talented music students who now have highly successful

careers. In organising this tour, we’re hoping to rekindle the department’s community

involvement, provide an excellent vocational experience for the existing students and

perform an exciting evening of eclectic music for local audiences!”

Ashraful Paval, a current music student at the College said:

“Everyone in our group is very excited about this tour. It’s going to be acoustic

music and we’ve got a very talented group of musicians. I’ll be singing some

traditional Bangla and Hindi songs and am really looking forward to it!”
