Officers investigating an alleged affray in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.42am on Tuesday 11 April 2023 of a man in possession of a mallet in Maiden Street.

It is reported that the man approached a male member of the public – who was riding an e-scooter – and chased him while making verbal threats.

Officers attended and a 39-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of affray and released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Jake Evans, of Weymouth police, said: “I am continuing to investigate this incident and would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I am particularly keen to hear from the person riding the e-scooter as they may have important information to help my enquiries.”
