A man has been jailed after neighbourhood policing officers on patrol caught him in possession of drugs in Weymouth.
Adam James Leslie, 44 and of Weymouth, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A at a hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 11 January 2025.
At around 3.25pm on Thursday, 9 January 2025, a neighbourhood policing officer was on patrol near Greenhill Gardens when he spotted the defendant acting suspiciously in suspected drug-related activity.
The officer kept sight of Leslie and requested support from colleagues after he was seen getting on a bike and riding to a café on The Esplanade.
When the officer asked the defendant to stop, he refused and tried to evade him.
The officer managed to stop him and detained Leslie for a search, in which he was found to be in possession of heroin, cocaine, mobile phones, SIM cards, and cash.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody, where concealed wraps of cocaine were located.
Following an investigation by detectives from Dorset County CID, Leslie was charged and appeared in court. He was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, 14 February 2025, to 28 months in prison.

“Our subsequent detailed enquiries led to Leslie being charged and brought before the court, where he faced justice for his actions.
