This year an ice skating competition was created by Weymouth’s BIG Christmas Gold Sponsor, Dorset Lettings. The competition prize was an invitation to an entire class of 40 children to skate on Weymouth’s ice rink on Saturday 17th December. Erin Hill aged 11, who attends Radipole School won the competition for her excited classmates.
Erin Hill, 10 from Class 6T said “I am really excited to go skating on Saturday with my classmates, I have never been skating before!”
Cheryl Vickers, Manager from Dorset Lettings Weymouth, said “Dorset Lettings are thrilled that Erin has won the ice skating competition, we look forward to seeing her and her class at the winning session on Saturday 17th December.”
On Saturday 17thDecember, Dorset Lettings will have a pop-up stand in the town centre offering mince pies and mulled wine to Christmas Shoppers. As part of the Weymouth’s BIG Christmas celebrations Weymouth BID and Refresh Churches of Weymouth & Portland will be hosting entertainment from 12pm and a pop-up nativity at 2pm on the Main Stage in New Bond Street.
Rev’d Anni Douglas, Refresh Co-ordinator commented, “Everyone loves watching the Nativity story at Christmas but so many do not have the chance of seeing a performance unless you have children – here is your chance!. Little ones dressed up in characters from the story will also get a gift!”
Musical performances start from 12pm on the Main Stage in New Bond Street with The Deans Academy, Rachel Scott, WOW, Toby De Kretser and Sandfest 2016’s Winner Karl Vogts. Full programme available online at www.weareweymouth.co.uk/christmas/programme
The BIG Christmas ice rink is open every day until 2 January, from 12 midday with last session at 6pm. Bookings can be made at www.weareweymouth.co.uk/christmas. Discounts available for group bookings and parking is FREE in council run town centre car parks after 3pm each day (check car park is operating the scheme by looking for appropriate signage at pay point).
