Welcome to the dedicated web page for Weymouth’s Seafront Masterplan.

The masterplan aims to provide a vision to inform the future management of the seafront.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SO FAR?

Weymouth Town Council appointed consultants HemingwayDesign to work on plans to enhance Weymouth’s seafront, making it a year-round destination for everyone to enjoy.

Proposals will focus on the beautiful 3-kilometre stretch of coastline including the beach and promenade close to Weymouth Pavilion Theatre in the south, to Overcombe Beach in the north.

In May 2022 an engagement session included a walkabout on the seafront with town councillors and council staff to gather some initial ideas. Residents, visitors, and businesses in and around Weymouth were then asked to contribute their views on the www.thinkweymouthseafront.co.uk survey.

We had an amazing response with more than 2,200 people completing the questionnaire! The data is currently being analysed.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of HemingwayDesign will provide an update to town councillors, businesses and hoteliers in Weymouth summarising the survey responses.

A project proposal for the Seafront Masterplan will then be drawn up. The proposal will go out to public consultation so that people can have their say on the draft proposals before any decisions are taken.

A report will then be presented to members on the town council’s Services Committee for consideration, before going to Full Council for a final decision. These committee meetings are open to members of the public who are encouraged to be part of the decision-making process. We will publicise the meetings in advance.
