What should not been even remotely controversial these days, is saying that WE CANNOT AFFORD CAPITALISM. AS HUMANS OR AS A PLANET. It is literally killing us and our planet. 97% of the scientific community agree. Of course it’s not framed as ‘Capitalism’ in the news and press releases, it’s framed as our current rate of consumption of natural resources etc. I.e. Capitalism.
So, would we still need to create things and use natural resources in a different economic model? Yes. But we would not be consuming anywhere near the volume, using different techniques, not creating mass surplus and changing the entire carbon foot print long-term.
So, again, I argue that we are now, or should be, WAY past debating about Capitalism etc. We are now in a damage limitation situation. I repeat, we, factually, know carrying on with Capitalism will kill us all and our entire planet much, much faster than any ‘natural occurences’ (except maybe a huge meteor!) or alternative economic systems. That this is born out by the science, yet is STILL treated like some wishy-washy, idealistic, student politics, far left, woke or whatever other BS distracting term is used…is genuinely insane.
If you were an alien looking in at planet earth and saw that we KNEW, FACTUALLY this is happening, yet consciously chose to not only ignore these facts, but to escalate the very thing causing our own downfall, you would think “Well, they deserve everything they get for their total stupidity!”
But, you know, keep saying that those pointing it out are woke lefties or whatever else helps you sleep at night. Indeed, it’s as the meme says….
