Stop Funding Hate’s response to reported plans for two new “Fox News style” TV channels in Britain, which have prompted widespread concern is to identify who will be funding them.

After months of news articles trailing these TV channels, Stop Funding Hate supporters starting taking action in February, tweeting their phone company, bank or supermarket and urging them not to support the two new outlets, GB News and News UK TV.

The #DontFundGBNews hashtag quickly went viral, with over 12,000 tweets using the hashtag on the day that we began our campaign action.

It’s since been announced that the launch of GB News has been delayed – and the company is also insisting that – contrary to initial reports – they are not seeking to emulate Fox News.

But there is still a lot of concern about the likely direction of this “anti-woke” TV channel – and I recently wrote an article for Ethical Consumer magazine giving more background on this.

Stop Funding Hate has had several requests to help identify the GB News advertisers when the channel launches. So we’re putting together a dedicated team of volunteers to support this task.

If you might be able to spare a couple of hours a week to help, please do get in touch via [email protected] or reply to this email directly.

Obviously we’ll know much more once the channel launches, but in the meantime we think it’s important to be prepared, and we’ll be sharing more information when we have it. If you’d like to help shape our future campaign actions on this, please do join our supporter group on Facebook.

Many thanks for supporting Stop Funding Hate,
