Witness appeal following armed robbery in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating an armed robbery in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police was called at 2.22pm on Wednesday 18 December 2019 to a report of a robbery at TSB on Old Christchurch Road.

A man entered the bank, grabbed an employee from behind around the neck and demanded money from the till. It is reported that he was in possession of a firearm.

A quantity of cash was stolen.

The man left TSB in the direction of The Mary Shelley pub.

The offender is described as white, approximately 40 years old, five feet seven inches tall, bald and of a large build with tattoos on both hands. He was wearing a grey scarf around his face, black sunglasses, blue jeans and a burgundy Puffa-style coat.

Detective Inspector Sarah Gillion, of Bournemouth CID, said: “An investigation is underway and armed officers have been carrying out searches in a bid to locate the offender. We have also been checking CCTV in the area.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw a man matching the description given, to please get in touch.”
