A woman has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with a fatal collision in North Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.21pm on Monday, 25 March 2024, of a collision on the A354 Salisbury Road at East Woodyates involving a grey Citroen DS9, a white Ford Transit van, and a DAF cattle transporter truck and trailer.

Very sadly, the nine-year-old passenger of the Citroen, Zac Roe from Andover in Hampshire, died at the scene. His family continues to be supported by specially-trained officers and has been updated with developments in the investigation.

The driver of the Citroen—a woman aged in her 30s from Wiltshire—was arrested in connection with the collision, and she has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. She is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 31 January 2025.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT), said: “Our thoughts are very much with all those affected by the very sad death of young Zac Roe.

“Following an extensive investigation, a woman has now been charged in connection with this matter, and this means the case will now be the subject of active court proceedings.

“It is vital that the justice system is allowed to follow its course, and it is therefore important to stress that there should be no further commentary or sharing of information online or on social media that could potentially prejudice the court process.”
