Woman Who Spat At Staff Member In Christchurch Sought

Officers are issuing a CCTV image of a woman they would like to identify following an assault in Christchurch.

At around 2.15pm on Monday, 20 January 2025, a staff member at Marks and Spencer in High Street confronted a woman she suspected of shoplifting.

It was reported that the staff member was spat at by the woman after asking her to leave the shop.

Police Community Support Investigator Mike Cannings, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing our enquiries into this incident and are now in a position to share a CCTV image of woman we would like to identify.

“I would ask anyone who recognises her to please get in touch.

“It is unacceptable for someone to be assaulted while doing their job and we are determined to identify those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250009188. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
