Yeovil Man Arrested as Woman and Two Children in Serious Condition Following Collision in Sherborne

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam to come forward as they investigate a serious injury road traffic collision near Sherborne.

Dorset Police received a report at 9.13pm on Thursday 18 December 2025 of a collision involving a white Range Rover and a blue Renault Clio on the A30 between Castle Town Way and Oborne Road to the east of the town.

Emergency services attended the scene and road closures were put in place as they responded.

Two children – boys aged 7 and 9 – and a woman aged in her 30s were taken to hospital by air ambulance and are being treated for serious injuries.

A man aged in his 30s was also taken by ambulance to hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Their next of kin have been informed.

A man aged in his 40s from Yeovil was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Road closures remain in place as officers continue to carry out enquiries at the scene.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

“I would also urge anyone who was travelling in the area around the time of the collision to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience during the road closures, which are necessary to allow for the emergency services to respond and for a thorough examination of the collision scene to be conducted.”
