Officers are renewing their appeal for information as they continue to investigate a serious injury road traffic collision near Sherborne.
Dorset Police received a report at 9.13pm on Thursday, 18 December 2025, of a collision involving a white Range Rover and a blue Renault Clio on the A30 between Castle Town Way and Oborne Road to the east of the town.
Emergency services attended the scene, and road closures were put in place to allow them to respond to the incident.
A man aged in his 30s, a woman aged in her 30s, and two children – boys aged 7 and 9 – were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. The two children have since been discharged from hospital.
A man aged in his 40s from Yeovil was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious. He was subsequently de-arrested and is continuing to assist officers with their investigation.
Sergeant Leanne Howes, of the Serious Collisions Investigation Team, said: “We have been exploring all lines of enquiry in relation to this collision and we now have information to suggest that a light-coloured vehicle may have been present at the time of the collision but did not remain at the scene.
“We would urge anyone who was travelling in the area and in the direction of Milborne Port around the time of the collision to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.”
