The Dorset Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) has announced a third recruitment event, in their search for more Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs).
The added date for those interested in volunteering will be held at Weymouth College, Cranford Avenue, Weymouth on Wednesday 12th March at 1pm.
Two other information events will take place at the Custody Suite, Joint Emergency Services Building, Wimborne Road, Poole, on Monday 3 March (2pm) and Tuesday 4 March (7pm). All events will be attended by current custody visitors.
Dorset PCC Martyn Underhill and his team are recruiting ICVs, who inspect police cells and check on the welfare of those in detention. The volunteers can make unannounced visits to custody suites across the county.
There are currently 18 visitors in operation across the county and the Commissioner is keen to find other volunteers from across Dorset to help boost the numbers.
Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill said: “A large proportion of those detained are under the age of 30. I would like to welcome all members of the public who are keen to help the Force deliver on this aspect of the Police and Crime Plan, particularly young adults and minority ethnic groups. This will enable ICVs to be representative of the detainees they are visiting.”
The closing date for applications is Friday 21 March 2014.
