Dorset Police received a report of a fight that had taken place in an alleyway between Court Road and Lorton Lane at around 9.20am on Tuesday 21 March 2023.

It was reported that two teenagers were in possession of a hammer and a knife and that they assaulted another teenager, causing a laceration above his eye.

The two alleged offenders then reportedly left the scene in the direction of Lorton Lane.

Following detailed enquiries, a 15-year-old boy from Gillingham and a 15-year-old boy from the Blandford area were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Sergeant Rich Barnett, of Weymouth CID, said: “Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing and I am keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.

“I would also urge motorists who were in the area and residents with home CCTV or doorbell cameras to please check their footage for the morning of Tuesday 21 March 2023 to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.

“I appreciate reports of this nature may cause concern for the local community. I would like to reassure members of the public that this matter is the subject of a detailed investigation and local officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.”
