Detectives investigating an alleged suspicious fire in Weymouth have arrested a man.

At around 1am on Monday 18 May 2020 Dorset Police was called by the fire service to a report of a fire in a wheelie bin outside an address on Franklin Road.

It was also reported that damage was caused to the front door of the property.

Following enquiries, a 62-year-old Weymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Officers are continuing to make enquiries into this incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
