In the dynamic world of football, where talent often emerges from unexpected quarters, Declan Rice has swiftly risen to prominence as a standout figure. Born on January 14, 1999, in London, Rice’s journey to becoming one of England’s most promising young footballers has been marked by dedication, skill, and a relentless drive for excellence.

Rice’s early years were shaped by a deep passion for the sport. He joined the youth academy of Chelsea FC at the age of seven, where he honed his skills and began to attract attention for his natural talent and versatility on the field. Despite his potential, his time at Chelsea was short-lived, as he was released from the academy at the age of 14. This setback, however, proved to be a pivotal moment in Rice’s career, as it fueled his determination to prove his worth and succeed against the odds.

Undeterred by rejection, Rice joined the youth system at West Ham United, where he continued to impress with his maturity, composure, and tactical intelligence. He quickly rose through the ranks, making his senior debut for the club in May 2017 at just 18 years old. His performance on the pitch caught the eye of fans and pundits alike, earning him widespread acclaim and recognition as one of the most promising young talents in English football. In the summer of 2023, Rice joined Arsenal FC.

One of Rice’s defining attributes as a player is his versatility. Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, center-back, or even right-back, his adaptability has been instrumental in his success. His ability to read the game, anticipate opposition movements, and make crucial interceptions has earned him comparisons to some of the game’s greatest defensive midfielders.

Rice’s breakthrough moment on the international stage came when he chose to represent England, the country of his birth, at the senior level. Despite being eligible to play for Ireland through his grandparents, Rice ultimately decided to pursue his international career with the Three Lions. Since making his debut for England in March 2019, he has become an integral part of the national team setup, earning praise for his performances in midfield and establishing himself as a key player for both club and country.

Beyond his technical abilities, Rice is also admired for his leadership qualities and strong work ethic. Despite his young age, he exudes a sense of maturity and responsibility on the field, often leading by example and inspiring those around him to raise their game. His dedication to continuous improvement and his willingness to learn from experienced professionals have endeared him to teammates, coaches, and fans alike.

I have been sent the following very powerful post, and I want to share it with you.

‘I just watched a press conference with Declan Rice, Arsenal footballer and international footballer, defending his girlfriend, Lauren Fryer, as she took her Instagram down due to trolls stating she’s not WAG material and he could do better.

Other footballers have Latinas, glamour models and pop stars.

His girlfriend, then feeling inadequate, went on to delete all her selfies and photos.

Declan began speaking about her, and he said she was real, funny, beautiful, and kind, and that he loves her more than anything in the world. She has been his safe place when he’s felt alone in the world.

They welcomed a baby together in 2022, and since then she’s become a mother. He says he now loves her and fancies her even more.

When asked if he ever read comments and wondered if he should “upgrade his wag,” he replied, “My woman is the love of my life, and there is no upgrade that exists for me.”

Declan… you truly are a gentleman.’

The corporate media is responsible for much of the sexism and hatred we experience. Avoid them, and get well.

How the corporate media creates sexism

  1. Representation: The media often depicts gender stereotypes, portraying men and women in limited and often traditional roles. Women may be shown in subordinate or stereotypical positions, reinforcing societal views of their inferiority or restricted capabilities.
  2. Objectification: Corporate media frequently objectifies women, reducing them to their physical appearance rather than acknowledging their intelligence, skills, or achievements. This perpetuates the idea that women are primarily valued for their looks rather than their abilities.
  3. Gender Pay Gap: Media companies have been criticized for perpetuating the gender pay gap by paying male and female employees differently for similar work. This inequality sends a message that women’s contributions are worth less than men’s, reinforcing sexist attitudes.
  4. Underrepresentation in Leadership: Women are often underrepresented in leadership positions within media corporations, which can perpetuate gender inequality within the industry and influence the content produced. This lack of diverse perspectives can lead to biased or stereotypical portrayals of women in the media.
  5. Stereotypical Portrayals: Media frequently reinforces traditional gender roles and stereotypes, depicting women as caregivers, homemakers, or objects of desire, while men are portrayed as dominant, assertive, and in control. These portrayals can limit the aspirations and opportunities of both men and women.
  6. Sexualization: Corporate media often sexualizes women, portraying them in suggestive or provocative ways to attract viewership or sell products. This can contribute to the normalization of sexual harassment and violence against women by perpetuating the idea that women’s bodies exist for male consumption.
  7. Language and Framing: The language used in media coverage can reinforce sexist attitudes by using derogatory or belittling terms to describe women or by framing issues in a way that diminishes the experiences and perspectives of women.

The corporate media plays a significant role in shaping societal attitudes towards gender, and when it perpetuates sexist stereotypes and inequalities, it contributes to the normalisation and reinforcement of sexism in society.
