If Poole got out of jail on Saturday, Tuesday nights replay against Bashley was a different story. No last minute get out of jail goal to spare the Dolphins blushes this time, it wasn’t needed. Poole Town gave their Southern League rivals a right royal spanking with Carl Preston in mesmeric form for the Dolphins.
Poole dominated from the start with Preston in dazzling form. The Dolphins opened the scoring with a sublime finish from ‘Prezzo’ Preston. Messi or Ronaldo? Pah! On this form, I’d have the lad from Turlin Moor all day long. Bashley did however get on the score sheet, unfortunately Bash’s skipper, Gary Middleton put through his own net which meant Poole went in at the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Bashley must have wished they stayed in the dressing room as the Dolphins carried on where they left off, with wing wizard Carl Preston weaving his own brand of magic that even Harry Potter would be proud of, and on 62 mins Preston made it 3-0 after being put through by 2nd half substitute King Karim Lammali. With the tie all but over, there was still enough time for Preston to complete his hat trick from the penalty spot to make it 4-0. Bashley put to the sword and another step towards Wembley glory,
