Visit Dorset Facebook campaign exceeds expectations

The Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership has capitalised on the growing surge in users of social media with its first major Facebook campaign promoting Dorset.

The Visit Dorset Facebook page complements the visit-dorset.com website with up to the minute information on what’s happening in the area whilst giving the partnership team the opportunity to interact with visitors to the page.

The Visit Dorset Facebook campaign ran for six weeks over the summer holiday period and offered visitors to the page the chance to win fantastic holidays and short breaks, visits to top attractions and incredible activity experiences.

Working with social media experts Digital Visitor, the aim was to increase the awareness of the Dorset Facebook page by achieving up to 2000 new ‘likes’.

The popularity of the competition and the quality of prizes on offer lead to the page actually achieving more than 5000 new ‘likes’ as well as being seen by over a million people.

Lauren Herring, Social SEO Account Manager at Digital Visitor was enthused with the performance of the campaign, said: “Visit Dorset were open to our suggestions and provided all the insight needed to deliver a campaign that generated huge interest and exposure for the brand.

“We put Visit Dorset in front of 1 million+ individuals and the results exceeded our expectations with participants offering endless positive feedback.

The 18 prizes were offered by Dorset tourism businesses that currently feature on the visit-dorset.com website. 

By working together with the Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership on this new campaign they were able to raise the profile of their business to future customers.

“The support from Dorset businesses and the feedback we’ve had has been incredible, exceeding both ours and Digital Visitor’s expectations.

“A campaign like this just shows the power of social media and people’s love of Dorset as a leading visitor destination.”
