Dorchester Arts is fast becoming the place to be for top quality live music acts. From sell out appearances from The Beat, The Blockheads and The Spooky Men’s Chorale, the Dorchester Arts team, now based at the Corn Exchange is gearing up for another packed music programme this autumn.
One of their many highlights includes Mad Dog Mcrea who will bound into Dorchester for one night only on Saturday 31 October.
Mad Dog Mcrea blend a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies – Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.
It was at Glastonbury in 2013, with the release of their ‘Happy Bus’ video, that this popular, West Country festival act began to attract much deserved attention on national radio from esteemed folk such as Mike Harding, and many others.
This, matched with the unshakable dedication of their massive and loyal fan base, Mad Dog Mcrea, were determined to show their fans and media alike they could be seen as serious recording artists too.
Mad Dog’s acclaimed new album Almost Home, produced by Sean Lakeman (who performed at Dorchester Arts earlier this year), has done just that. Fuelled with the all the essential Mad Dog energy and antics that the band has become known for, this collection of new material has received rave reviews across the board.
In constant demand and having played just about every festival and gig circuit across the UK, Mad Dog Mcrea are soon headed for Dorchester to share their abounding energy and material from their new album release.
